Students will continue with alphabets recognition, name and sounds. They are working daily with Summit, System 44, Duo-Lingo and Springboard. Students will continue with daily reading and cloze activities. They will read a passage each night citing text. Match oral commands with learning strategies represented visually and compare with partner. Initiate or engage in conversation with professors, peers or in small groups. Students will write and turn in their narratives the week of September 17-21. Initiate or engage in conversation with professors, peers or in small groups.
They will read passage each night citing text, continue with alphabet names, sounds and sight words. They will read a passage each night citing text. Match oral commands with learning strategies represented visually and compare with partner. This week students will continue with mindset. Students will begin with construction of Unit I (Stand Up) consisting of viewing with a purpose, discussing media, introduction of content area vocabulary, central ideas/detail and summarizing.
Writing: Plan and organize your paragraph, make inferences and begin construction of narratives/interviews. Students will continue with the following:
IEL students will continue to practice and demonstrate their understanding of basic greetings and direction commands. Students will recognize and use 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade sight words (will also use them in sentences). Students will work on the identification of alphabet names, sounds, begin constructing basic sentences and identifying verbs and nouns. They will begin reading and citing texts on their levels. Students will demonstrate usage of how to use the computer each morning by using Duolingo for 30 minutes daily. At the end of each lesson they will demonstrate knowledge of mastered materials verbally and on paper. Students will also be introduced to 5-10 new science vocabulary; heliocentric, geocentric, Big Bang Theory, solar system, universe, Orion's Belt, local group, super cluster and inertia. Parents please assist your children with understanding these words. They can use a smart phone to assist them. They will also be introduced to Summit/Science Software to gain a clear understanding of concepts they are taught. Students will have a review of math terms such as common factors, common multiples, denominator, distributive property, dividend, divisor. Our students are more successful when we work together to pursue knowledge. Español Esta semana en estudiantes IEL seguirá practicando y demostrar su entendimiento de saludos básicos y órdenes de dirección. All students will identify their story and determine their mindset vi, building their brain (specifically the language of the school and peer interviews with each other). We will practice the Read the Read 180/System 44 routine. We will discuss Lexile scores ad choose books accordingly. Students will review long and short vowel sounds daily.
We will begin Reading Workshop I Stand Up, which includes 7 different stories in 2 parts. Students will view an anchor video (Speak Out) before the workshop. Students will discuss new vocabulary. At the end of part I students will identify central ideal and details using varied graphic organizers for introduction of language development (prefixes, pre + re, context clues, recognize & use elements of a summary, and construct a summary). This will support their placement on the program. Students will practice the system 44/Read 180 rotation process. They will understand the usage of a Thesaurus and construct sentences using a Thesaurus. Identify short and long vowel usage. Construct sentences using various parts of speech. Students will also be introduced to narrative elements...settings.
